Communication
Home and School partnership
The partnership between home and school is one of the most valuable things whilst children are at school. Parents and teachers together play an important role in educating children, and need to support each other in order for children to benefit fully from their educational experience.
Keeping in Touch with us
Parents are welcome to discuss their child either after school, or by appointment. If you have any concerns or questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher. Please let us know as soon as possible about any problems or changes in circumstances that may affect you or your child, so we can support you as a family and ensure your child’s learning and education are as unaffected as possible.
How we keep in touch with you
- Parents are encouraged to attend parents' meetings with their child’s class teacher.
- Weekly newsletters
- Half-term curriculum class newsletter
- Parent workshops
- School website and Twitter
During parent meetings you will be given the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, attainment and behaviour in school. You will also have an opportunity to have a look at your child’s work, and raise any concerns you may have.
Termly class newsletters, which give an overview of what your child will be learning in the current term, are put on the school's website for you to look at.
St Joseph’s main method of communication is via email and the school website. We email letters, newsletters, dates for your diary and information on events taking place in school, so it is extremely important that we have your correct email address. We also upload most of these communications to the school website. We will sometimes use texts if the message is of an important or urgent nature.
We welcome suggestions from parents for workshops they would find useful. There will be open evenings and special events when parents are invited to come and see the school in action, for example Christmas plays, celebration assembly, choir performances, class Masses and curriculum workshops, led by pupils.
