This half-term in Science the children in Year 4 are learning about forces. This week they investigated how levers work and proved that you can lift a heavy weight without much effort! Using a lever and a Newton meter to measure the effort (force), they showed that a 1kg weight can be lifted using only 2 Newtons - the equivalent to 200g!

So, next time you’re on a seesaw in a park, see if you can balance two different weights by moving one person closer or further away from the middle (or “fulcrum” to give it its scientific name!)
