This week, Year 2 have been looking at the artist Jane Perkins who uses recycled objects to bring to life classic portraits or artwork. The children have used their noticing skills to see what objects she has found and used in her work. They noticed objects such as beads, lego and even zips! We then looked at other well-known classic pieces of art and choose Van Gogh's Sunflowers to start a collaborative piece. We will use this as our background to embellish with recycled objects, next week.
In maths, the children have been looking at estimating objects and adding missing numbers on an empty number line. In Geography, the children have been predicting and reporting on the weather. They have been putting their handmade wind vanes to good use by finding out the wind direction. Excellent week Year 2!
